And I rode every ride
I really had a wonderful weekend. Did you? Anything fun? Please share!!
Friday Hubby and some friend's of ours talked us (well me) into seeing Star Trek. I have never seen one of the old movies and I have never seen the show. I dragged my feet and just hoped it really wouldn't be that bad. A co-worker told me that the movie was so good that you didn't really even need to have seen a past episode. Then I remembered Class and Coffee writing about Captain Kirk being really good looking. So I figured I'd at least have some eye candy to look at...
HOLY COW! The movie was actually really good. Like really good that I would go out and buy it when it comes out good. I was really impressed. And... Captain Kirk was some major eye candy to look at. I told my husband there was a slight resemblance to him :) Capt. Kirk has some major baby blues. So besides Kirk being totally good looking the movie was fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet!
Saturday Hubby had to drive a bus of kids to Schlitterbahn, a water park in Galveston, for a field trip. There was a total of 130 kids. I was skeptic at first, but the choir teacher insisted I come and tag along with my hubby. So I did. It was great because we didn't have to "chaperon" any kids. They were 7th and 8th grade so they are pretty self-sufficient. We had check in times for them and that was really the only obligation we had. Well that and I had to wear a one-piece, which meant digging out my old YMCA camp counselor bathing suit from 5 years ago. Thankfully and remarkably it still fit. So basically Hubby and I got to play all day and for free!! We rode every ride possible. I think I did really well for having a broken big toe. I was very cautious and made sure to take every precaution as I went down the body slides :) I guess I lie when I say every ride because I did not ride the big drop slide. I felt that was pushing it a bit with my toe. Hubby did though. It was so much fun! I wore my Neutrogena sunscreen and I did not get a single burn! I'm so impressed with that sunscreen.
Sunday we really didn't so much besides the usual grocery store run and clean house. I went to a friend's house to watch Twilight while Hubby worked in the yard. I really enjoyed the movie. It wasn't near as good as the book, but I was pleased. So once I got home I had my nose shoved in New Moon. I cooked and read at the same time! I could not pull my nose out of the book - so much so that I stayed up until midnight reading. I could have finished the book as I only have 100 pages left, but I figured I needed my beauty sleep. So I reluctantly shut the book until this evening and curled up next to my dead-asleep husband. Gosh it's so good thatI can barely stand to put it down!! I'm looking forward to finishing it tonight.
I'm ridiculously addicted to this Twilight series. It's seriously the best love story I've ever read in my life. The passion that these two characters have for one another in inspiring. A lot of it reminds me of the love and passion I have for my husband. The way she feels in book 2 about Edward because he's gone is totally how I would feel if I even lost T. I would be devastated. I could seriously go on and on right now about Twilight and how wonderful it is, but I'm sure that's not what you came here to read about. So enough for now...
We have our one year wedding anniversary coming up on Sunday. I'm so very excited for the weekend!! I wanted to do something special this week on the old blog here to commemorate this great milestone for my husband and I so I may share some fun stories, tips and pictures!! I think that would be fun. What are your thoughts? I can't wait to give him his presents. I'm surprised I have held the secret this long!!
I was thinking this morning about what I was doing a year ago this week and it's crazy how much calmer this week is. I like it. haha there's no last minute checking my folder of information and making sure I have place cards folded and in their assigned table baggies and that my clothes are washed for the honeymoon and that I have everything I possibly need. Wow. Looking back it was definitely a whirlwind. An organized whirlwind, but a whirlwind.
So that's my thoughts for this afternoon. Happy Monday!

Hey! Sounds like you had fun! We didn't do much, just relaxed, because we have lots of travels coming up. How crazy is it that your wedding anniversary is only one week before mine! A year HAS flown by, I was just thinking the same thing and how stressed I was then and how great I feel now. If you haven't yet, you should check out my blog post from this morning...I posted on the Stage of Life website about weddings and wedding planning. It fits this discussion perfectly.
And I couldn't agree more about Twilight...it's like crack, in book form, and it's so romantic. I think the way she writes their feelings is exactly how every teenaged girl has felt about some guy in their lives, I think that's why all girls drool over it. Enjoy the rest of the books!
SOunds like a fabulous weekend.
For our first anniversary, my husband had one of my wedding pictures painted on canvas for me and framed. I thought that was so thoughtful.
As for my weekend, I just blogged about it today. Your was more fun, mine was quiet, but relaxing.
I can not wait until I get to chaperon Zachery's field trips. Aaron is beyond that point now. I do still have this summers baseball season though. My tip to you...Audio books...I love to read, but I have to be realistic in my time usage. Audio books allow me to cook, clean, fold laundry, comment on blogs;) As I am writing this I am listening to, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and His Boy, by C.S.Lewis.
One Year and many, many more to come for you my dear. Congratulations!
Sherri - Aww how thoughtful!! That is so sweet!
I had something fun done for hubby, which I'll be sharing after this weekend!
I saw your post on that resort - looks awesome!
Lyn - Audiobooks are pretty cool. I've never actually listened to one. I like to imagine the character's voices in my head though. I'm weird like that.
Yes many many more!
