Flower Headband How-to

I have been wanting to have a dainty flowered headband that ties. I have a hard time with regular headbands as they squeeze my head and give me a headache. So here's my {inexpensive} how-to and a way to upcycle some old clothes :)

Flowered Headband

You will need:

Velour ribbon or any ribbon
Old black Tshirt
Old Lace shirt
Loose pearls
Big round button
Scissors
Needle
Thread

* Cut a small square from your black T-shirt. Place button on fabric and cut out small circle using the circle as a guide.

* Find a good sized flower in the lace pattern from your shirt. Cut it out around the edges.

* Place flower on top of black circle. You should barely be able to see the outer edges of the black circle.

* Sew pearl on to both layers. Secure.

* Repeat for the number of flowers you wish to have.

* Measure your ribbon/headband out on your head and mark where you would like your flowers to lay. Mark spot with small straightpin.

* Stitch little flower onto ribbon from one end of the flower to the other. That way the end of the flower can't lift up away from the ribbon/headband.

* Repeat for as many flowers as you cut out.

Your finished product!

I think it looks pretty darn cute!

I love trying to reproduce things I see and that I like. This project was very easy and took about 30-45 minutes. It's a quick way to make use of some old clothes you no longer wear and make them into something cute and useful!!

I hope you enjoyed my how-to. Oh and by the way, a little birdie told me that you may be able to find one of these in my super secret giveaway!! Just sayin.

Speaking of my giveaway, don't forget to enter! The giveaway will close on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at noon!!
