Over the shoulder boulder holder
Yup, let's talk about boulder holders, bras, braziers...you get the picture. I don't know that "boulder holder" actually fits the terrain here, but regardless I wanted to blog about bras. Strange choice. I know, but just bear with me. I'm sure some of you have an opinion.
As I've mentioned before, I'm not to blessed in the bosom area, which is fine, but facts are facts. We (women) all wear bras in all different styles and sizes. Have you ever noticed how many styles there are? Holy crow.
Well with my um bosoms it's quite difficult to find a good bra. You would think that being as small as I am that would not be as much of a feat as I'm certainly making it out to be, but it is. I assure you, it is. I know well endowed women have their own trouble, but us petite folk have our troubles too. For instance...
* strange cups. You bend over and they bow out. Umm not really going to work.
* too much padding. I know I don't have much and a little uplift is great, but I really don't want to feel like I'm strapping a pair of boobies on thankyouverymuch!
* no umpf. People. We need some help in the uplift department. If I'm buying a bra, I don't want to feel like it's a cut-down version of a sports bra.
* itchy and uncomfortable. No one wants to spend 10+ hours feeling like their bra is digging into their sides or is so uncomfortable that all you can think about, all day long, is getting that wretched thing OFF!
I have three factors when I'm buying bras: 1. Does it fit. 2. Do I look great in it? 3. Is it comfortable? Pretty standard right? I can't tell you how many bras I've bought that fit at least two of these criteria. Then after a few washes the underwire pops out, they aren't as comfortable or the the cups have deformed into mountainous lumps - and I use a lingerie bag! Frustrating I tell you. Ask my husband. I buy bras, wear them a few times, then I hate them. Money. Wasted.
I have a few that I really like, but I wanted something awesome. My Sister-in-law {who's newly engaged by the way! yahoo!} loves Victoria's Secret bras. First, she has the "equipment" to look like the models do. I - do not. So it's hard to gauge how it will actually fit me. I ordered a swimsuit from there once and it was a horrible catastrophe. Another story for another day. So in my experience of trying on their bras they were either uncomfortable, didn't fit right - at all, or just didn't look good on me. Slightly depressing. Also, I could never really afford their bras and refused to pay upwards of $50 for one.
I got a little card in the mail for a free panty and $10 off a bra. I decided I was going to buy a bra and just pay whatever it was as long as it fit good. I dragged hubbs out with me to our local VS and sought out VS associate. I got measured {much to my dismay...it's not hard to figure out} and gave the girl a pretty comical idea of what I did and did not want in a bra. She gave me the BioFit to try on. I shrieked at the price tag, but told myself it was a treat for the ladies.
Oh.My.Goodness.
Hello little ladies. Hello comfort. Hello softness. Hello it-doesn't-even-feel-like-I'm-wearing-a-bra.
Needless to say I'm in love. Apparently I can look good in VS bras and despite the ugly price tag, it's completely worth it. I might not look as voluptuous as this lovely lady, but I look good and by golly I feel good.
Thanks for making my ladies look good. They {and my husband} appreciate you.
Your new bra loving diva,
V

Ohhh bras. My arch enemy. I have such a hard time finding one that actually fits & one that I don't have to adjust every 5 minutes without having to spend a fortune & a half. I actually really like the bras in Walmart. For some reason they are very comfortable. I haven't tried a biofit bra yet but if I get another coupon I think I'm going to give it a shot!! Thanks for the heads up girl!
I have a hard time finding bras because I am a weird size.
I like the bio fit too. Although I give it a shelf (ha ha) life of less than a year.
Cheers to you for finding a bra that fits. Now on to swimsuits and jeans, right?
OK...let me just start by saying that VS is like heaven. Victoria really does have a secret she wants to share with everyone who hasn't worn her undergarments. And they last F-O-R-E-V-E-R. I wear one with padding, and push up capabilities becasue even though I am a heftier gal, I was not blessed in the chest department.
I love this Valerie. I'm so with you. I never can find the perfect bra no matter how hard I try. I myself have a couple of VS bras and I still am not in love with them. Maybe I'm just not buying the right style? I don't know they confuse me beyond belief. That and jeans shopping are my least fave things to shop for.
VS is amazing! They really do last forever. Well, unless your dog chews up your bra like mine did. I was not a happy camper. But I really really love VS bras!!!
I'm glad you found a bra you like! I've never found a VS bra that I like, but I guess I'm lucky because I usually don't have too difficult of a time finding bras. It's the entire rest of my wardrobe that gives me fits!
For the longest time I wore bras that were super uncomfortable simply because I had no idea what size to get! Not a good thing. I may have figured it out now, though. I picked up some bras from Target that have underwire, a little padding, and I like them a lot. I do find myself adjusting them occasionally, but they're WAY better than the ones I used to have. ;)
I haven't tried any of VS yet...someday I might, but it's not in the budget right now. :)
I have a really hard time finding bras, partially because my chest size fluctuates depending on what time of the month it is! VS bras are the best, but they're so damn expensive that I have a really hard time spending that much money on bras! But every time I do, I am never disappointed.
Oh girl. I can totally relate. Before I had my boobs done two years ago I was a 36A. I hated shopping for bras. I could find plenty of As, just not 36. And if I did, they looked horrid on.
I'm glad you found something that you love! We chicks need all the comfort we can get!
BTW, now I am a 36D and never have a problem fiding bras I love. Thank you, Las Vegas. Haha :)
P.S. Your WAY cuter than the naked chick in the picture. :P
How much was it?
It sucks that we dont have VS stores in Canada. I have to play the order online, return exchange game.
Yes, I am another VS devotee! And let me tell you - just keep on the look-out for the semi-annual sales, where you can stock up at better prices. Also, once you know the size/fit that suits you best, you can find better selection at those sales online.
I rarely look at any brands other than VS or La Perla (another $$$$$ option). I have been, er, "blessed" in the chest area & I am really picky about what I like. I HATE padding - just makes me look bigger & awkward. I love that VS rates each bra by padding/lining. Makes it very easy for me to find what I'm looking for. For whatever reason, the Biofit doesn't work for me, but I do think it's a comfortable and attractive bra.
So glad you found something that works for you, girl! :-)
I get all my bras from VS because they usually carry the bigger sizes. And yes they are expensive but they last a while. I have some biofits and they really do work wonders!

Melanie - Oh yes. Bras. They have been my enemy for a long time too. I have having to pull it down or put the strap back up. I'm right there with you. I haven't had any from Wal-Mart before. Try out the BioFit. I really liked it.
CJ Sime - ick...swimsuits. Don't even want to venture there yet. at.all. I'm good with jeans though. I buy only American Eagle.
Lisa Michelle - It is pretty much like heaven. I love the panties. I buy them all the time.
Alissa - I went and talked to the lady there and told her what I do and don't like. I don't know what's better suited for smaller gals or my body type, so I just decided to ask if I was going to spend some money. I'm pretty happy so far.
Bailey - Oh no!! I'd be ticked! I think they are going to be a new favorite.
Eyegirl - I hadn't either until recently. Lucky duck!!
Jacky - I am dead on with the size, but I hated spending a lot of money so I bought cheap ones. I've noticed when I spend some extra money they are better quality and last longer. Target has some pretty good bras too! Wait for a coupon or a sale and then check them out :)
FG - oh wow!! That has to be annoying! Yea it was hard spending that much, but I took a $10 off coupon so that helped.
The Housewife - Is it totally nerdy that I got nerded out that YOU commented on my blog? You're like a blogging celebrity! LOL. Anyways...I actually just read your boob upgrade story :) Yea I will find a cute bra and then it will look awful on me. Yes we do!! AHahahahaha!! I bet you don't! Vegas did you well :)
Aww thanks!!
Caro - It was $45 original price and I had a $10 off coupon. That sucks they don't have store up there, but at least you can order online :)
Brandi - Yay!! That's what some other people have told me. Let me know if you hear about one and I will go check it out. Thanks!!
I've never heard of La Perla. I have bras without padding, just lining, and I like those too, but some padding gives some vavoom and vavoom is good. But if you are big, I can see how padding would be annoying.
Heather - Oooo yea huh. I didn't even think about that. Glad you have something that works for you too!
bahahaha I love this! Buying bras kills me. To get a good one, you need to spend too much money. I usually wait until Vicki's has their sales and go in. I can choke down the thought of spending $20-$25 on a good bra but not $40.
I'm glad your girlies found a nice new, comfortable holder! 8)
VS are a little pricey but seems to be much better quality. My only complaint about them is that the different styles fit soooo differently. Highly recommend the wireless models from VS (I think they have one in the Body by Victoria line if I remember right)....comfy!
MTMOL - I agree. The $40 was hard but it was worth it. Now to hit up their sales!!
Meliha - I agree with you too. The fabric is better as is the make. The styles all fit very differently. You're dead on with that one. Ooooo I'll have to try them! Thanks!!
I seriously just snorted at "strapping on a pair of boobies." You are hysterical, girlie! I liked my VS bras all right, but you aren't kidding about that hefty price tag. (On a side note, why does it seem like the skimpier something is in that place the more it costs?? I mean, seriously, it takes LESS material to make it!) *Anyway*. I read a really good review on the Gilligan & O'Malley bras at Target, so I decided to try one. I *really* like them & they're a little easier on the wallet--especially when they go on sale!
