There's some things you just don't say

Fatty MckFatterson here.

How-dee.

So I wanted to share with you something from today. You ready for this?

{I go down to pick up the mail this afternoon and go to see the building mailman since he's still there. Mind you he's older and though it might sound like he's hitting on me, he's not. I assure you.}

Me: "Hey R!"
Mailman: "Hey Girl!"
{Smiles}
Mailman: "Girl you're lookin' good!"
Me: {smiles} "Aww thanks R!"
{Mailman says something, but I don't hear him. Lady to my right gasps.}
Me: {laughs nervously} "What was that?"
Mailman: "You've put on some weight! You look real good."

yes. Seriously.

Me: "Oh. Well. Yea. But don't tell me that!"
Mailman: "But you look good!"
Me: {slightly frowns} "Yea that's what my husband tells me." {laughs}
Mailman: "He's a good man!"

So you think my fat ass and Goodyear tire look good huh? Hmm. Interesting. You know what? That's fantastic considering yesterday I couldn't squeeze fatty mckfatterson here into a size 5 pair of shorts at Target. Depressing much?* Howdy Captain Obvious.

{I know he was just being nice and probably honest - I don't think he meant it negative.}

Ugh. Still. There's some things you just don't say.

*OK before you throw tomatoes at me and call me ridiculous, I need to defend myself. I used to be tiny, like super tiny. However age mixed with thyroid issues has made it hard for me to lose weight, so I've put on some lbs in the last year or so. I wear all different sizes based on the brand and store, but it was just hard for me to realize that I would need a 7 in those particular shorts. Especially when I have several pairs at home that are fives. Come on...no woman ever wants to go UP a size, not matter what size she is.

I don't mean to imply that anyone above that size is fat or whatever-NO WAY do I mean that. For my frame and based on how I used to look, it's a big change for me. Especially since it's all happened in the last year or so.

So please don't hate me or think I'm ridiculous. I'm pretty sure a lot of us are critical about our bodies in our own ways. I'm choosing to share mine with you, so please don't judge. Love ya!

Hello junk-in-my-trunk. Let's be friends since you're here to stay. Deal?

Wow, I agree that there are some things people jut shouldn't say. But at least he meant it as a compliment and trying to be like "girll, you need to LOSE some weight." I understand where you're coming from -- until a little over two years ago, I was a size 1 or 2, depending on the store, but after knee surgeries and quitting high school athletics, I'm getting to that size 7 cusp too. It's depressing! But you're still beautiful. Don't forget that! :)

I would have cried.

Ok I can completely relate to your size issue...I was having the same problem a few months ago. It's so discouraging when you go into the closet to put on some clothes that were fitting perfectly fine a few months ago...but are now (uff!) too tight. It starts to get so expensive to have to replace all the pants you own! LOL

I ended up taking a boot camp exercise class and got back in shape, which made me feel so much better.

PS - There's NOTHING wrong with wanting to remain the same size / NOT go up a size.

No worries Valerie!! You are Beautiful!!!

Ashley March 27, 2010

Oh gosh. I hate going up a size. Even a few pounds on the scale cause me to panic. And yes, some things should not be said. You look beautiful though so no worries, dear! :)

Eyegirl March 27, 2010

I know he didn't mean it in a negative way, but that is still something that should NEVER be said to a girl!!

Some people really just don't think before they speak! After that im in the same boat with you and of course you know a wedding in less than a month and still havent managed to loose weight. Then i start thinking why can't we just be happy with ourselves. Why do we always try to change something and never find the good things about ourselves.

Christy March 28, 2010

Aw man! My husband said the same thing to me...totally in a "I like the little weight gain, please don't lose it" kind of way, but uuugggghhh!! I don't want to hear it. And, I know what you mean about bigger sizes. I'm in the same boat (thyroid issues and all) and when you get used to a body frame that you used to be, it's really hard to accept that it's different. Whether that means a size 0 or a size 10....if it's not what you are used to it's a little tough. With summer coming up I need some major motivation to get moving!!

Valerie {Next to Heaven} March 29, 2010

Simply Valorie - Oh I know he meant it as a compliment, it's just still something you don't want to hear. Thanks girly. You're awesome.

Sarah Ann - he did!!

CJ Sime - I was about to!

Meliha - Exactly!! Thanks for the sweet words.

Brittney - Nope, they sure don't!

Katie - Thanks girl. I appreciate it. As are you dear!

Ashley - Thank you. You are so sweet!

Eyegirl - Yes. Exactly.

Heather Martin - I am right there with you. I will have moments where I'm super motivated and like whatever I love the way I look and then others I'm down. Just can't win can we?

Christy - You don't want to hear it no matter who it comes from. I need some major motivation too!
