Give Thanks

Ideally a "Thankful" post would have been appropriate before Thanksgiving, but well that didn't happen. {And I'm totally OK with that!} I figure now is a good a time as any. Plus I can share pictures from Thanksgiving!

I took off from work Wednesday, so I had a nice 5 day vacation with my hubby! We were super productive Wednesday, which was good. We got 25 Christmas presents made! Woo! The rest of the vacation, we vegged out and relaxed!! It was so worth it. Now to layeth the crack down :)

But anyways...here's some pictures from Thanksgiving...

Husband and I

Cesari Family! {plus "bump"}

Speaking of bump!

Bernardino Family {minus Dad...he was on the phone...as usual!}

Me and my big little brother

Me and Tony's sisters :)
{Yes I made my shirt}

It was so wonderful to spend time with family. That's one of the reasons I just love Thanksgiving!! We had a lot to be thankful for this year...

{*} We are thankful for a wonderful, supportive family.
{*} I am thankful for my wonderful, supportive, and loving husband.
{*} I am thankful Tony and I both have good jobs.
{*} We are thankful for our great friends.
{*} And we are certainly thankful for our little "bun in the oven."

Friday we also decorated for Christmas. It's so awesome!

And I also made Tony and I stockings this year!!!! I'm so happy with how they turned out!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's hard to be back to work today, but I guess good to be back to normal life :) Less than 4 weeks to CHRISTMAS! Yes :)

A productive weekend

I had lots of lists for this weekend of ALL the things I was going to accomplish.......

I think we all know that I didn't adhere to any of those lists, but I was still productive! Just not in all the areas I necessarily needed to be.

Friday night Hubs was actually off the hook for Football - first time since August - so we scheduled date night. We made spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread. We sat down to eat and hubby enjoyed some wine. However, midway through one of my shows I noticed he was passed out. He had too much wine and just fell asleep, so I ended up with date night by myself and clearing off the DVR. Oh well :) at least I got to use him as a pillow!

Saturday I made cookies for my mechanic and then went to have my oil changed. They are so kind and good to us there, I figured I'd give a little something back. They never even ask our name. They just know who we are when we walk in. I just love that! Hubster had to work, so I sent him on his way and then got to work! I took pictures of new inventory for Spunk & Sass. {Seriously! Check it out! There is so much stuff}That's A LOT of pictures.

Then B (aka Sass) came over to get a few things and indicated she really needed a shopping buddy for a few hours. I was happy to oblige and get in some great best friend time! Kohl's was on her list and I had some Kohl's Cash to spend from my grandma. We scored some awesome books at Half Price Books too! I must have purchased like 6 books or so all for $1 each! Yes!

When we went to Kohl's I knew I wanted a sweater dress and some leggings for the holidays this year. I found some on sale and it was perfect! Well then I still had money to spend, but nothing that I really needed. I've got a good amount of maternity clothes, so no need for more right now. My Christmas shopping is pretty much done, so didn't need to buy for that.

But I could think of one little person I could buy for! Baby!

I know, I know...I don't know the gender yet, but it's SO hard not to buy anything. I had free money so I figured what the heck. I got some gender neutral things and then some books.

Super sweet stuff. It just makes it seem a little more real when I can buy a few things for the little one. I'm just so excited :)

Sunday was pretty productive as we went to the grocery store and got Thanksgiving goodies :) Then I sat for umpteen hours and uploaded things to Etsy. We rescheduled our date night to last night where we enjoyed dinner {sans wine for the hubby} and watched a bunch of Weeds episodes. That show is SO GOOD! Stayed up way too late, but that's OK. It was good husband time - and RELAX time.

I didn't get any Christmas presents done, but I'm hoping to in the coming week :)

I'll leave you with this picture of a shirt I had made. I know...I know, I'm a dork.

The scale is going the other way

I think I'm going to start a series on things my husband says...especially during this pregnancy. He's just too darn funny. You may remember my Fat Pants story from last week. So instead of Kids say the darndest things, I'm thinking Husbands say the darndest things.

{Setting: Our Master Bathroom}
{Back story: Before getting in the shower, I got on the scale out of curiosity and found that it was much lower than anticipated. I wasn't incredibly surprised as my eating habits have really changed, in that I'm eating much less, because of nausea and what not, but still like whoa! Haven't seen that number in awhile...}

Me: "I got on the scale this morning and it said 120! I've lost like 12 pounds or so. I feel like I'm going the wrong way, but I guess it's just because I'm eating smaller meals since I get full. And well queasy."

Hubby: "Wow, really? Nuh uh..."

Me: {gets on scale} "Look..."

Hubby: "Wow. I would've have thought it would be higher. I mean you look like you've put on weight."

Me: "Really? You think? Like where?"

Hubby: "Well your butt is definitely jigglier and your belly is bigger."

Me: "Yes, my belly is bigger, so that's odd I weigh less." {Turns to look at butt} "But I think my butt still looks good..."

Hubby: "Oh it does...it's just bigger...and jigglier. But it's not like that's a problem."

Me: "Well I'm so glad..."

{Hubby smiles, pats my belly and walks into the bedroom}

Such a stinker...but I love him so, so much <3

{UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your concern, but I have talked to my doctor and they see no cause for concern. Not eating my normal amounts of food will cause me to lose weight. It's only down a few pounds from my last doctor's visit. The fact that I'm not vomiting is good. I take vitamins every day and I eat small amounts at least 5 times a day. Over the course of 3 months I've lost 10-12 pounds. All of that based on being weighed on multiple scales, which the doctor said can give or take 5 pounds. Thanks again, though, for your concern.}

Finally 12 Weeks!

Now that the news is out in the open, I figured I can update y'all on my weekly progress with the little one. Plus friends and family read this blog and I thought they might like updates. Feel free to read every week or pass it up. Up to you :)

How far along? 12 weeks

Baby's size? A plum

Weight Gain? I lost weight in the early weeks, so I think we're still catching up.

Maternity clothes? Not yet...getting close. Just got my bella bands on Etsy.

Stretch marks? Nothing yet, thankfully.

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? I love love LOVE sleep. Still in bed pretty early, but noticing more energy in the evenings.

Foods I am loving? Pretzels, cheese, chips, applesauce, frozen yogurt, oh and stir fry!

Foods I am hating? Mayonnaise. {blech}. Sandwich meat. Heavily seasoned foods. Cilantro. Oregano.

Best moment this week? Making it to the 12 week mark!

Movement? Nope. Still gas bubbles :)

Symptoms? typical pregnancy stuff...just a little less nausea, which is nice.

Gender? Hubby and I are thinking boy, but a lot of people think girl. Hopefully we'll know in a few weeks.

What I miss? Well being pregnant is amazing, but I do miss eating whatever I wanted. I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving and hope I can stuff myself :)

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

12 weeks 2 days

{Since I was wearing black and the lighting sucks, I tried to show my tiny protruding belly :) I know it's not much, but it's still exciting to a first time mama. I also tried out a bella band last night. Hello to no buttoning of the pants! Yay!}

Fabulous Friday

I started today in a funk - I'm blaming hormones - but I'm slowly getting out of it as the clock nears 5 pm. I'm also listening to Glee on repeat! That and I'm indulging in a hostess cupcake, but I digress.

I haven't participated in MLIP's Fabulous Friday in awhile, so I thought I would today :)

I'm fabulous today for a few reasons...

1. I am just about done Christmas shopping. I have 3 gifts left to buy and I'm done, done, DONE! Now I just have to start making them all :P

2. I made a list to prioritize my Christmas to-do's :) I'm ready to tackle it all now!

3. Tomorrow I'm finished with the first trimester! Woo wee!! So excited to watch baby grow bigger and bigger.

{taken last weekend at 11 weeks}

Happy Friday loves!

Thursday's Fat Pants

{Setting: This morning in our master bedroom}
{Back story: I can't button some of my pants}

Hubby and I are watching the news. I just finished ironing my pants and am slipping them on...

Hubby: "Hey! Your pants buttoned!"
Me: "Yea...these pants are a little bigger."

I hold out the waistband to show him.

Hubby: " Ooooooh...those must be your fat pants."
Me: "Yes. They are my fat pants."

Boys are just so funny sometimes.

Things I've Learned...

It's amazing what you learn through life, but it's even more interesting what you learn when you are incubating another human being...

1. The feeling of tired and exhaustion takes on a whole new meaning. If you ever thought you were tired, try being pregnant and tired. It's like being slapped upside the face with complete exhaustion - like fall asleep however you land tired. Like you daydream about sleep tired.

2. Continuing on with sleep...it becomes sacred...like one of the best things you could ever imagine.

3. Fast food doesn't sit well. It gives you gas. Trust me.

4. Peaches and a glass of milk don't constitute as a meal in order to take your multi-vitamins and DHA. You will regret it the next day.

5. Also soup...meaning you eat the goodies in the soup not drink the broth...will not keep you and your growing critter full for very long.

6. Keep some kind of snack within reach at any given time.

7. Hard candy is your savior...especially if it's sour.

8. Drink lots of water. Like OK you drank some, well drink 2 times that.

9. Ultrasounds are pretty much the best thing ever...even if it involves "the wand." I would get one every week, every day if it meant I got to see my little one.

10. You will find that things you once loved are now your enemy. For instance...oregano, parsley, mayonnaise, deli meat...I run at the site...or gag. Depends which comes first.

11. Your doctor will not look at you crazy if you ask to record your ultrasound. It's pretty much the coolest thing ever and I must watch it once a day.

12. I wake up in the middle of the night to pee at almost the same time every morning. That's weird.

13. Multi-vitamins are best taken at night. Trial and error proved this correct.

14. Eating is key!! Eat lots of snacks. Note earlier learning experience of having something to eat with you at all times.

15. You will not want anything touching your waistline once you reach a certain point. I've gone to stretchy pants all the time - nacho libre style. That or I just don't button them :) Sexy...yes...I know :)

16. When you crave something....it's all you can do to make sure you ingest it within the next few minutes. If you can't, you drool over it all day until you can have it.

17. Apple juice helps with "things." Drink a glass a day.

18. You learn where all the bathrooms are in any establishment you enter. Umm brb...

19. You will burp more than a pubescent teenager, but will feel the same gratifying experience as when you just let it out. Don't worry...people will stop noticing. Oh and it so happens mid-sentence. Just sayin.

20. Ice cream at night is like the best thing since sliced bread or macaroni & cheese in my current situation.

21. You thought you had monumental experiences in life, but nothing compares to hearing that little heartbeat go thumpity thump and NOTHING compares to watching it move and squirm. Incredible.

22. Hormones will make you crazy. Quite literally. You will yell at your husband and then cuddle him the next. You will cry at commercials {even more than you did before}. Don't even bother with a chick flick. *Ahem Dear John. You will get so mad at something so stupid. Kinda funny.

23. Tums & Colace. Keep them in your purse. No exceptions.

24. Oh and lastly {for now anyway} people are very opinionated. That and hormones don't always mix well. Just know that and tuck it away somewhere.

Outside of the nausea, I am really loving being pregnant. {I mean really. Who loves nausea?} It's an incredible thing and to watch your body go through the changes it does is just amazing. We've been taking pictures of my belly and it's so crazy to see it get bigger and bigger. I'm so excited about this baby and want to make sure I record everything so I can look back and laugh, but also be able to share with my child someday :) Today was adding some humor into the early months of pregnancy and the things you learn, because believe me...you learn some things. And they are amazing. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the entire world, because this ladies, is a miracle that I embrace with every fiber of my being. And that ends my mushy ending.

Happy Monday! Hope your day has gone by faster than mine!!

Pearland Craft Show

B and I had another Spunk & Sass craft show today in Pearland. We didn't do fantastic, but we still had fun just being able to sit for hours, chat, and really do nothing! Just quality time with your best friend :) and maybe some people watching...

We did our set up a little different this time and it turned out cute!

Funny enought it was one of the coldest mornings in our area for this time of year...and we were outside...freezing!!

I thought B was going to freeze to death, so I ran home for blankets. Such a good idea!!

We only had one mishap where a HUGE gust of wind blew through and our tent started to take flight, our lunch tried to blow away, and all our merchandise went blowing down the aisle!! It was crazy! We felt like we were in slow motion - we're running to grab hold of things and people all around us are just staring with their mouths gaping open. No, no it's fine...we've got it...we don't need any help. {EEeek!} We must have laughed for a good 10 minutes on how funny we must have looked.

As the afternoon approached, the warm Texas sun warmed us up and we were able to strip off some layers. It was pretty funny because every 30 minutes or so we would lose some article of clothing. Strip craft show? Just kidding. Once the sun was out, it was just perfect outside.

Oh and a little side note...baby Cesari is starting to make an appearance :)

It's official

My husband and I are very PROUD to announce that

WE'RE EXPECTING!!!!

Our little munchkin is due late May of next year and we are just THRILLED! It has been incredibly hard to keep this all to ourselves these last few months, so I'm so excited to finally share the news with all of you.

The baby looked great yesterday. He/she was squirming around and everything. The heartbeat was strong and in the 160's so that makes us both very happy.

We hope you share in our excitement and will follow along on our journey to parenthood :)

Yummy Casserole

I get the Kraft Food & Family magazine and just love it! If you don't already get it, you should. It's definitely worth the subscription. I never throw away an issue and every one is always jam packed with yummy things to make and bake!

We had a cool/cold front pass through this week, so I thought a casserole might be fitting for our cooler temps. Go ahead...make fun. It's currently 56 right now and highs in the lower 60s. I was just excited I could finally wear a sweater today :)

I made the Creamy Beef & Noodle Bake last night and it was delicious!! I also had it for lunch today and it was just as good, if not better! I just love a meal that reheats well. It was so good, I wanted to share it in case anyone was looking for a new recipe...

My Weekend and a Candy System

Friday night I went to my Mom's birthday party and actually had a good time! My little brother was there and it was so nice to hang out with him. The food was good and the company was interesting, as always.

me and my little brother

Mom's fiance, Mom, me and brother

Saturday I relaxed on the sofa until B came over and then we crafted all day and into the night. It's always so nice to hang out with her. She got a lot more done than me :) I spent a few hours cutting and putting together flowers to make my felted flower necklaces for our show this coming weekend. Then I had bought some fabric to make myself a Fall purse and decided to give that a try.

GIANT FAIL. OMG it was seriously the worst bag ever. Well first problem was that I wanted to do a recessed zipper...which I have NO IDEA how to do. Like at all. I looked up some tutorials, but didn't really find what I was looking for, so I decided to go rogue. Bad idea. I got the whole bag done, turned it right side out and realized that my top pieces weren't sewn together and that to do that, I would have to take the whole bag a part. Not to mention I'd already broken a needle by this point.

I tossed it aside and called it a night. Sunday I cut the zipper off and just went for a simple tote. Problem after problem occurred and finally...FINALLY I had a finished product. It was seriously like the bag from hell. Or Marshall's Law rather. But it's done...it's cute...it's functional...and it's very Fall-like.

Sunday was Halloween and hubby and I sat outside to hand out candy. It was actually cool outside and we decided to take advantage of it.

We had a lot of fun sitting out there and talking. We were, however, a bit agitated with some of our trick-or-treaters...in comes the candy system:

* If you bring your infant (who can't talk by the way) to trick-or-treat you get one piece of candy. Really? Your infant?? We both know good and well your infant can't eat that candy. If you want candy, why don't you go buy it yourself? I just don't see how you push your stroller up to me with a bag on the end for candy, while your infant chews on the plastic tray staring at me, while you say nothing. Umm Happy Halloween?

* If you show up sans Halloween costume you get two pieces of candy. Mostly because I'm nice. Seriously, it's Halloween. How do you not dress up?? I understand if you can't afford a costume for your kid, but can't you let them play with some craft paint and an old t-shirt? Wear a sports team shirt and paint black lines on your face. Do something. Don't just show up with your regular clothes and a Wal-Mart bag.

We saw this one kid come up, looked like he had on regular clothes, but he had a sign taped on his shirt that said "nudist on strike." Now that's creativity! We laughed for a good few minutes at that kid.

Oh and if you show up with no costume, no bag and just hold your handy out for candy, I will be tempted to tell you no. I am nice though and gave him some, but really...come on!

Additionally, don't walk up to me and say "yo you got candy?" I will tell you "no, I'm just holding a bowl of it for nothing." {shithead}

* If you show up with a Halloween costume you get three pieces of candy. I love seeing all the costumes and I appreciate the effort. I especially loved the brother where one was a SWAT guy and one was a convict! So cute! Or the other two brothers who were Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Totally adorable.

* If you show up with a stand-out, rockin Halloween costume you get four pieces of candy. I just love creativity and the people who really go all out. I think it's awesome and like to reward you!!

We have lots of kids come by for trick-or-treating, so we have to be mindful of how much we give out or we'll be empty in an hour (like last year). I just couldn't believe some of the people this year. So crazy. Especially the little turds who were like "ugh...only 3 pieces?" Listen turd...I was nice enough to buy candy and give you some. There's a whole neighborhood for you to hit up. Chillax yo.

{end of rant}

Hope everyone had a great Halloween :)
