Sh*t People Say...

So I promised to come back to blogging and I intend to stick to my word! I'm going to aim for once a week right now and go from there...so consider this your weekly post lol.

So...shit people say...

I pretty much hung out in my own little world prior to being pregnant and having a baby. Then once I got pregnant, it's like the whole world knew I finally existed...and wanted to talk to me. And tell me things. You know...because I so wanted to hear a stranger's opinion. Don't we all? No? That's what I thought...unless of course it's a compliment.

So when I was preggo I got all sorts of comments....

"Oh you're so cute!"
"You look like you're going to pop!"

"Are you sure it's just one baby?"
"You're so big...you're going to have a hard time delivering."

And the list goes on. Whatever. Turds. Well after you have the baby the comments keep coming. It's like unwanted gifts. Fab.

My absolutely all time favorite?

"What is it?"

What's what? Her? My child? MY DAUGHTER? You mean the child that's dressed in a pink ruffled shirt and pastel striped pants with hearts & flowers on her shoes? Oh yes...well if you're referring to her, then yes. That's a GIRL since it wasn't obvious. And what a tard...IT? She's not an it. She's a child. A girl child. I mean if you're unsure then ask her name or just say "what a beautiful baby." Much easier and you don't come off sounding like a complete asshat. I love that one time she was dressed in a pink floral shirt, pink pants and had on giraffe print sunglasses and a woman asked if "it" was a girl. No. Really? No ma'am I cross dress my son. You know I always wanted a daughter. Really? Come on now. I swear I might actually say that one of these days.

I also love this one....

"How old is she?"

I respond with the correct amount of months and they respond: "Oh really? She's really big for ___ months." Well she is 90% percentile. Big? Aren't babies supposed to be deliciously chubby? Whatever.

I also love getting asked when the next one is. Or are you trying for #2? Or it's time for the next one huh? I swear. I understand people's curiosity, but geez. Can't I enjoy my first child? Oh and p.s. do you know how expensive daycare is? 2 infants/toddlers in daycare is over a grand and would be more than my mortgage. No thanks. Not right now. Plus again, I'd like to enjoy my daughter and spend some one-on-one time with her as she's growing. I want a big fat savings account before two kids. Plus I just started a fabulous job and I want to be more established here. I would much prefer "Do y'all want more kids?"

I just think it's crazy the things people will say to you. Perhaps I'm still hormonal? Not likely. Maybe it's my mama bear attitude that I've seemed to develop. Anyone with kids or preggo experience this yet? Please tell me I'm not alone...

Anywho...happy Thursday

You are certainly Not alone here! I cant tell you how many times my baby girl was referred to as 'it' or 'him' with a pink Carseat, pink blankets, huge bow, and Head to toe in pink Girly clothes! It drove me insane and I contemplated Telling people I started cross dressing early as well :)
The months thing, yeah I get that too! Everyone always says 'she is so tiny' well really? She is the 10% ans yes, she out eats me , have no fear. People are dumb!

It used to drive me crazy when E was all wrapped up in her pink blanket, and people would ask if my baby was a boy or a girl. I didn't understand how this could even be a question...until I had O, my baby boy.

We didn't have the big savings account saved up in between children (15 months apart!) and are definitely paying more than our mortgage for childcare--so O frequently went out on the town in his sister's old pink blankets. It drove my husband crazy, but I didn't care too much. I did, however, have a neighbor who cared more than I did, so she went up in her attic and gave me all her "boy" stuff so that O wouldn't have to use pink blankets and towels. Haha. But he never went out in his sister's clothes...

Welcome back to the blog world! Once a week is a good goal. :)

Oh yes the joyful "it" question. Spiked hair, tons of energy,no bows...really? Happens to everyone it seems. I can't imagine not looking at Lexie and being like what a beautiful girl!!!

I can'rt speak from a Mommy perspective, but I know that 35-ish years ago, a woman was carrying her little pink-clad infant through the grocery store and someone commented on "what a cutr baby boy!" My mother has *still* not gotten over that. ;-)

My favorite is when I answer the 'how old is she' question and so often I get "Oh she's so alert!" Well, yeah, she's 7 months not a newborn. She's also been called a boy once or twice, 'fella' once. The kid is always in pink or hearts and bows but I guess she needs to be pink from head to toe to get the gender point across.
